Using simple, comfortable and well located accommodation, our small group safaris offer fantastic value for money combined with Sunway Safaris quality service.

Professional guides, comfortable beds, and value-for-money

Introduction

Accommodated adventures are based on our proven small group adventure safaris concept, you will overnight in guest houses, chalets, lodges or permanent tented camps. The accommodation we use is graded 2 to 3 star and is comfortable, clean and friendly and is booked on a twin share basis. The majority of rooms have en-suite bathrooms and very occasionally they will have shared ablutions. All linen and bedding is provided. Details of accommodation for each night are available on each detailed itinerary.

Limited participation

On our accommodated adventures we will require a limited amount of participation from you. The Sunway guides will, when required, do the meal preparation and will ask you for a bit of help cleaning up afterwards (on rotation). Where restaurant meals are included in the itinerary, obviously these will be served by the lodge and do not require your assistance. When everyone gets involved in the safari it makes the entire tour more successful.

Pace & Distance

Accommodated Adventures are long distance multi-country touring and include a mix of one- and two-night stays to visit a wide range of highlights. The activity level is moderate, with a steady travel pace and regular sightseeing, making this style well-suited for active travellers seeking variety and value.

Accommodated Adventures single supplements

Booking solo – you do not pay any more for travelling as a single person. If you are travelling on your own, Sunway will automatically room you with another same gender single person. If however you request a single room these are available on each tour, with a price supplement. Please note that there is a limit of 2 single rooms available on each tour.

Accommodated Adventures Okavango Delta

For 2 nights in the Okavango Delta on Accommodated Adventures we are hosted by the local community guides. We stay in a simple pre-erected mobile tented camp. Each dome tent has camp stretchers with linen, and an en-suite chemical toilet. There is a communal bucket shower with hot water off the fire.

Catering & Meals

Most meals will be prepared by the Sunway guides, from the truck. Evening meals we eat around a camp fire or in a boma and you will have roadside picnic style lunches on travelling days. Depending on the itinerary a selection of dinners and breakfasts will be catered in-house by certain lodges.

Transport

We have put years of safari experience into the design of the Sunway Safaris trucks. Sunway trucks are built to comply with the latest South African transport and safety regulations. Your comfort is catered for with individual seats (with safety belts), ample legroom and large vertical sliding windows for unobstructed viewing and photography.

There are roof hatches for excellent “open” views and an integral cab and passenger compartment so contact with the driver is easy. Each truck also has large packing compartments, a built in kitchen, freezer, drinking water tank, interior lights and a gas stove (to minimise use of wood and destruction of forest areas). There is also a pullout set of steps into the passenger compartment, making access for clients easier.
