Botswana is considered Southern Africa’s premier game viewing destination.

The remote wilderness, limited access for visitors and abundant game make for an exceptional wildlife safari. This tour is the essence of why we started Sunway.

Highlights
Information
Overnight

4 nights on safari we stay at designated campsites with hot & cold showers, laundry facilities & telephones. 7 nights we “camp wild” without fences in the wilderness areas. On these nights the crew will erect a bucket shower (with hot water off the fire) and a pit latrine (with seat!).

2 nights at a lodge in Livingstone with en-suite rooms.

Meals

13 breakfasts, 11 lunches and 8 dinners will be provided by the Sunway crew, prepared around the camp fire except the last 2 breakfasts at the lodge in Livingstone.

Transport

For the majority of this safari you travel in custom-built 4WD Land Cruiser with 12 forward facing seats (of which 8 are window seats). Roll up canvas sides allow you to feel part of the bush.

For the first two days from Johannesburg to Maun we use custom built Sunway Safari trucks with 12 forward facing seats or (on 10% of tours) Mercedes Sprinter minibuses with 12 forward facing seats and air conditioning.

Limited participation

An essential part of your safari is some participation. From putting up your tent to packing the truck in the morning – it’s all part of your adventure and when everyone puts in a little effort the trip will run smoothly. Your tour leaders will do all the meal preparation but we do ask the clients to help (on rotation) with the washing up. If there are 9 or more clients on the tour, then a supply vehicle and camp assistant travel with the group through the national parks (days 6 - 11). The camp assistant will help with meal preparation and washing up, and make your life a little easier!

Responsible Tourism

good-to-go-framed

The Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust is a community based wildlife project established in 1992 to assist in saving the vanishing rhino, restore an area formerly teeming with wildlife to its previous natural state and provide economic benefits to the local Motswana community through tourism and the sustainable use of natural resources.

We accept children 12-18 with accompanying adults on scheduled tours (for private groups we can accept younger children).

If the clients are older than 65 years, then we require a medical certificate too (stating client is fit and healthy to embark on a multi-day tour covering long distances etc).

Botswana is centrally located in Southern Africa and mostly has a sub-tropical climate. Largely Kalahari desert, there are sizable differences between the day and night temperatures and virtually no rainfall. In the Delta temperatures are more moderate due to the abundance of water. Botswana is a wonderful destination all year round…

Dry season is from May to October: The game viewing is superb and wildlife is very easy to spot.
May:– Autumn temperatures are typically 10°C/50°F to 28°C/80°F.

June, July & August:– Winter morning game drives can be cold at around 6°C/42°F, but it warms to +-25°C/78°F.

September & October:– Spring begins and temperatures warm up to +- 34°C/100°F. The migration of the Southern Carmine Bee-eaters is a sight to behold and a must-see for this time of year.

Green season is from November to April: Baby season and nothing beats seeing a lioness with her cubs, or other young animals at play.
November & December:– Typically cooler than October and between 20°C/69°F and 33°C/91°F. The more desert areas can still have very hot days.

January & February:– The Summer or “Green” months, with occasional storms in the afternoon. Temperatures are around 32°C/90°F in the day.

March and April:– The waters of the Delta start to rise and large herds of elephant and buffalo begin to make their way back to the Okavango as winter approaches. Lovely, clear weather and few clouds prevail, but the nights are cooler and the days very comfortable at around 30°C/87°F.

Safari through the wilderness of Botswana. Experience the Okavango Delta by traditional dug-outs and the abundant wildlife of Moremi game reserve and Savuti. Explore Chobe NP by boat and enjoy wonderful views of Victoria Falls!
Day 1 Johannesburg to Khama Rhino Sanctuary

[B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner]
Departing Johannesburg at 06:30am we head north into Botswana. We pass Serowe, birthplace of Botswana’s first president, Sir Seretse Khama, on our way to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This 4300 hectare reserve situated on the Kalahari sandveld, has several natural waterholes and provides prime habitat for white rhino, zebra and wildebeest. We take our first game drive around the open grassland of Malema and Serowe Pans.

Day 2 Maun

We drive through the Kalahari to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River, Maun is a bustling frontier town where we prepare for the delta excursion. After setting up camp we have a relaxing afternoon at the swimming pool.

Day 3, 4, 5 Okavango Delta

Swakopmund lies on the Atlantic coast, where cool sea breezes offer respite from the desert heat. En- route we’ll stop at Walvis Bay’s lagoon to observe flocks of flamingos, thousands of these elegant pink birds wading in the shallow waters. The town of Swakopmund sits at the mouth of the mostly dry Swakop River, which marks the northern boundary of the ever-shifting Namib Desert dunes. We have time in the afternoon for a walk along the beachfront before having a restaurant dinner (own expense).

Day 6 - 9 Moremi & Savuti

We have 4 nights in these conservation areas with time to explore the various habitats. We spend our time on game drives watching the plentiful wildlife including wild dog, elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion & other game.

Moremi Game Reserve rates as one of the leading wildlife areas of the world and we take our open 4WD vehicle into Moremi for fantastic game viewing! Grasslands, floodplains, forests, lily lagoons and winding water channels combine to form a variety of game viewing habitats.

Moving north over the sand ridge and into the Mababe depression we arrive at the Savuti Marsh. This open grassland area attracts herds of zebra and wildebeest, which in turn draw the large lion prides for which Savuti is famous. We camp wild in the central Chobe National Park at either Savuti or Zwei-Zwei.

Day 10 - 11 Chobe National Park

The Chobe River flows lazily along the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park attracting some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa. In the early morning we search for game on the flood plains of the Chobe river. The late afternoon game viewing “sundowner” cruise is a highlight as we see the mighty elephant herds returning to the Chobe River to quench their thirst. We camp at Kasane on the Chobe River for night 11.

Day 12 - 13 Victoria Falls / Livingstone

Overnight for 2 nights in Zambia near Livingstone town on the banks of the Zambezi River. Enjoy a spectacular walk through tropical vegetation to the very edge of the “Mosi oa Tunya” or “the smoke that thunders” – Victoria Falls. Opportunities to white water raft on the mighty Zambezi River, bungi jump, or take a “flight of angels” (own expense).

Day 13 - 14 Livingstone - Tour Ends

Tour ends at 08:00 after breakfast. Transfers to local airports are available.

[Remember it is possible to start this tour in Maun on day 2, making a 13 day Maun – Livingstone, BT13, and it is possible to start this tour in Maun on day 5, making a 10 day Maun – Livingstone, BP10]

The whole holiday was memorable. We loved the walking safaris in the Okavango Delta and all of the wild camping. We heard and saw a huge amount of wildlife and really felt a part of it. It was great to fall asleep listening to the sounds of lions, elephants, frogs, leopards, hippos, and baboons, amongst other creatures, and then wake in the morning to find and identify the footprints around our camp. Seeing the tenderness of lions towards each other close up was beautiful, as were the social interactions of a number of other animals, and the range of colourful birds was amazing. We were also really lucky to see two large packs of painted dogs. The guides were excellent, informative, and very friendly, and the food cooked in camp was superb. The optional excursions we took were great and gave a different perspective of our surroundings. At the end, it was good to see Victoria Falls, which were impressive even though they were far from being in full flow, and to relax by the Zambezi.

Get involved in helping out around camp and have some binoculars. Then watch and listen to everything around you.

It seemed that the trip benefited local people and supported conservation, with local polers and guides employed in the Okavango Delta, visits to a locally operated rhino sanctuary with profits going to local communities, the Save Our Sausage Trees project, and the use of locally owned and staffed operators elsewhere in Botswana. The campsites were tidied when we left, and we refilled our water bottles to reduce the amount of plastic used.

This was an excellent holiday where we saw so much wildlife, often being the only people there to see it. Everything ran to plan, the guides and drivers were brilliant, and we had a fantastic time.

Julie (AUS)

I returned from the Botswana ‘Wildside’ tour on Sunday. Absolutely blown away and in love with Africa. The travel was trouble-free. The guides and drivers were absolutely fabulous (shout out to Bryan, Jame and Koke from Sunway). They worked so hard to keep everything running smoothly and making sure that we were well-fed, happy and extremely well-informed at all times. We saw so much wildlife, including a large pack of the rare African painted dog and all the standard ‘favourites’ (elephant, zebra, giraffe, lion, leopard, impala, kudu, waterbuck, steenbok, red lechwe, hippo, rhino, warthog, wildebeest, buffalo, baboon, vervet monkey, jackal, mongoose, ground squirrel…and so many birds!). The group itself was incredible and will be friends for a long time. An eclectic mix of American, British, Canadian, French, German, Swedish and myself – the token Aussie! Was it the best thing I have ever done? Absolutely. The only downside (?) is that I keep waking up in the middle of the night from dreaming that I am still camping in the bush, listening to the sounds of the animals. If only I was still there. Would I go again / recommend it to others? Of course, and as soon as possible!

Antony (UK)

The game walk was an absolute thrill; being on foot in the wild and seeing lions and elephants up close was an unforgettable experience. This isn’t your typical holiday; it’s a true adventure. Be prepared to help out with the day-to-day tasks and fully immerse yourself in the experience; it’s all part of the fun. I would hope that our trip benefited local people and supported conservation efforts. Everyone we met along the way was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Overall, the holiday was fantastic; unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. A special shout-out to our guide Marcus, who took excellent care of us throughout the journey.

Hannah (UK)

The whole holiday was amazing. We saw a large variety of animals and birds with expert guides, while enjoying the breathtaking landscapes and sunsets. We were fortunate to see the Big 5, as well as hyenas, wild dogs, and many more incredible sightings. I even discovered a new passion for bird spotting! For other travellers, I would recommend starting the tour in Johannesburg. The first two days involve long drives, but they’re absolutely worth it for the chance to see rhinos. I’d also suggest bringing an inflatable sleeping mat, as the provided mat can be quite hard to sleep on for 10 consecutive nights. A larger capacity power bank is very helpful too, since charging opportunities in the vehicle are limited, especially with a group of 12. I feel that our holiday definitely benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts, and supported conservation. The company employed local guides and polers in the Okavango Delta, and initiatives like ‘Save Our Sausage Trees’ are fantastic, helping locals transition to fibreglass mokoros. We were encouraged to refill water bottles where possible, though it was admittedly a challenge to recycle the plastic bottles needed for sufficient water while wild camping. Overall, it was wonderful — one of the best trips we’ve ever been on! As the guides say, this isn’t a holiday, it’s an adventure. Be prepared for early starts and long days, but it’s absolutely worth it. Our lead guide Brian was incredible, and the food was outstanding — I never expected to gain weight while wild camping! I couldn’t recommend this trip or company more highly. Thank you!

Eleanor (UK)
The most memorable part of our holiday was the incredible knowledge of our guide. They taught us so much about the plants, birds, animals, the countries, and the people we encountered. Thanks to the guide, we always felt safe, even during some thrilling moments when lions were close to our camp. This trip was an amazing learning experience. For other travellers booking this holiday, I would say: don’t expect a relaxed, lazy vacation. Be prepared to actively participate in all aspects of the camping experience, and to start early each day. We were fortunate to have a great group where everyone helped out, which made it a lot of fun. On a couple of nights, lions were close to camp and we couldn’t leave our tents after dark, so a she-wee proved very useful! Also, be aware that there are long stretches without phone signal or data. While we found this refreshing, it might be challenging if you need to stay in touch with people back home. We definitely felt that our holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts, and supported conservation. Our time with the polers in the Okavango Delta was especially memorable. It was clear how our visit contributed to supporting their livelihoods in that remote region. Overall, I would rate this holiday as fabulous — although it was more of an adventure than a relaxing break.
Davina (UK)

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? Such amazing wildlife. It would be hard to pick the most memorable, perhaps being so close to a lioness with her three cubs.

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? Pack light but bring a good torch (my pocket torch was a bit limited) and camera with zoom lens.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? The campsites we stayed at and Okavango Delta trip benefitted the local villages. The toilets at wild camps were dug into the ground, water use was limited and we refilled at taps where possible.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? It was an incredible experience and I feel very lucky to have had this opportunity.

Hugh (UK)

Experiencing Africa in the wild and seeing so many incredible animals was truly the highlight of our holiday. It was an unforgettable adventure! If you’re thinking about booking this trip, don’t be daunted by the idea of camping – it’s all part of the fun and excitement, and it really adds to the overall experience. We also appreciated that the trip benefited local communities, supported conservation efforts, and was mindful of its environmental impact. The local people were warm and welcoming, and it felt good to know our presence made a positive difference.

Overall, it was a fantastic holiday – definitely a 5-star experience!

Kathleen (AUS)

Brilliant!!!! Would recommend to anyone. Best adventure I have been on in my life 🙂

Raffaela (Switzerland)

The trip was very beautiful from the beginning to the end. Of course also very strict, always on the go, putting up the tent, taking the tent down. At the moment I really appreciate my own bed.😅
We had a great group together. We all got along very well with each other right from the start. When you sit so close together for two weeks, you want to have a good time together. That was what worried me the most beforehand. But the fears were completely unnecessary.😄
Our guides looked after us so well, everything was always well planned, they always informed us about everything and had an answer to everything. It was really impressive how much coordination, planning and responsibility lies in their hands.
The tour was very varied. Anyone who likes animals will definitely not miss out. It’s just a joy to be surprised by nature. You never know what you will see at the end of the day. And that’s only because of the watchful eyes of our guides, who seem to notice every movement out of the corner of their eye. And even if there weren’t that many animals to be seen, the landscape and especially the sunsets are breathtaking enough.
Camping outside of civilization somehow felt like you were just a spectator or visitor with nothing to say and had to conform to the rules of the animal kingdom if you wanted to be treated kindly. It’s really good to experience that too.😅
You simply need good seat leather and you should be able to cope for a while without too much movement and little opportunity to retreat. Well, crawling into your sleeping bag in the evening with dusty feet is also part of it. But it’s all worth it.
The days in the Okavango Delta were special for me because we were able to spend a lot of time with the polerswho live there. And they were able to give us a little insight into their lives. Which was very exciting for me personally because it opens up my own perspective on many things in life.
I could write a lot more… what I can finally say is that the trip touched me very deeply in many aspects. Truly an unforgettable experience, with many beautiful, funny and breathtaking memories.

Sylke (Germany)

The safari was fantastic, which was also thanks to our international travel group, which got along excellently right from the start. I’m still in touch with them via WhatsApp. I particularly enjoyed camping in the wilderness and felt very well taken care of by our guides, as they always strived to make the trip a great experience for all of us. They were particularly concerned about our safety, and every drive and excursion began with a thorough briefing. The game drives in open 4×4 vehicles took place in the mornings and evenings, allowing us to see many animals, including the Big Five!
My favorite camp was in Moremi, as it was situated by a lake, and at night we could hear the hippos grunting. Additionally, elephants passed close by our camp. The most exciting encounter was surely with a lioness that walked right by our camp to care for her two cubs on a nearby rock. The days ended around the campfire, and we enjoyed the meals our guides prepared for us. Although we also stayed at camps where we could recharge our power banks and phones, I would recommend bringing a solar power bank for such a trip.
Overall, I found all the wilderness camps well-chosen, and the option to stay at campsites with showers in between was invaluable. What else was amazing? Certainly, the helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta, the Victoria Falls, and the stunning sunsets over the Zambezi. And… oh yes, the experience of managing perfectly without electricity, landlines, internet, etc.
If I could, I would give this trip more than 5 stars.
Thank you so much for this unforgettable journey.

Marek

Dear Sunway Safaris, yesterday we returned home from our Botswana Wildside Camping tour. I would like to thank you for the unforgettable trip. I consider myself a bit of an experienced safari lover, this tour was my 7th safari in Africa and by far the best one. Everything was just perfect: great schedule, awesome animal sightings, perfect guides and overall experience. Our guides Gee, Ngande and Coolcoe were awesome and highly professional. They were so helpful and friendly, and managed to keep the whole tour going forward without any hiccups. Cooking by Gee was unbelievable – he was able to feed 15 people with such tasty food in the middle of the wilderness. The Okavango experience was so great and wild camping in Moremi was just awesome. Savuti and Chobe were also amazing. The whole trip did not have a single weak point! My wife said to me that she will not go to Africa again, because nothing can be better. I am now browsing your webpages, trying to figure out which will be my next safari. Thank you so much for the best safari in my life! Best Regards, Marek.

Richard

Just wanted to thank you for everything you did in organising the amazing Botswana Wildlife camping safari that I have just returned from. It was a fantastic experience due mainly to the superb team comprising of Innocent, Mr T and Ron who did everything to make the trip a truly memorable event. I now have over 2,500 photos to edit which will be a lasting record of this great holiday having seen all the ‘Big 5’ animals. I was very impressed with the great organisation and professionalism of Sunway Safaris that I’m already thinking of booking another trip next year. I would very much like to visit Namibia/South Africa to see cheetahs (if possible) and any other animals and wildlife.

Alice

We had the absolute BEST time!!! Seriously, it was incredible! The boys were living their best lives! We feel so incredibly lucky, it honestly couldn’t have been better. The wild camping was outstanding, sleeping with the sounds of lions and hyenas nearby! The guides that we had were brilliant, and so good with the boys. We got to see SO much, and even witnessed leopards mating and 2 male lion hunting and killing a buffalo calf. We have been having an unreal year this year, traveling the world. Our time in Botswana was the boys favorite of it all! We really can’t thank you enough. It was the perfect tour for us. We couldn’t imagine going on safari any other way! Oh, forgot to mention that we were so lucky and our time in Livingstone coincided with an U12 football tournament, and the play it forward team let our lads participate!! One of the absolute highlights of the year, so special. We are going to continue the connection and send out kit and the like when we get home. They are doing phenomenal work.

Stephen
Hi. Wow, what an awesome African experience. Africa is wild and free, still the domain of nature. To see beautiful and powerful animals in their natural world is magic. Got photos of them but the camera does no justice to them. The scenery and star filled skies at night cannot possibly be captured on camera, everything is so. vast and devoid of humanity, as it should be. Drives in the game reserves were fab, close to magnificent animals. Saw cheetahs, a leopard, lions, wild dogs feeding, saw 🐘 🦏 🦒, and many more. Cape buffaloes are awesome. Visited Soweto in S A. Flew over Okavango Delta and did a sunset cruise, hippos and crocodiles. Camping was fun, great group of people, all helpingout. Food was terrific. This is just a precis of my adventure, so much more in my head. Sunway has done a fabulous job, safari as per itinerary, everything spot on. Our main guide Wayne was exemplary in all he did. Cheerful, highly knowledgeable about the animals and cultures and a great cook. A1 bloke. Please pass this on as it was not really covered in the feedback form. Thanks for everything, Stephen.
Richard

Well we have finally made it home from one of the most fantastic trips of our lives. Botswana Wildside was everything we could have possibly hoped for and more! Chris was a fabulous tour leader and his cooking skills were simply amazing – I would never have believed it possible for food to taste so good on a camping expedition! As for Jame who guided us through Moremi, Savuti and Chobe, his knowldege of the area, fauna and flora was quite remarkable. I really could not have imagined a better guide than Jame – he always had an enormous smile on his face, his empathy and passion for the animals and environment unsurpassed. What was going to be a quick trip to replenish the water containers at a park gate – ended up taking delightful hours, as he can just not help himself stopping and observing any wildlife we came upon (and it always felt that he enjoyed it as much as we did)! His intimate knowledge of animal behaviour (clearly essential on a trip of this kind) never left us feeling uneasy. The only problem you have now is that if we do another tour – we will be requesting both Chris and Jame!!.

Richard

If someone told me that I had one month to live, I would spend it on this trip. We have traveled all over the world, and this is it. Can’t wait to do it again.

Laurent & Anne

From Oct. 6 to 19., my wife and I had the chance to participate in a mobile, wild camping safari. We would like to congratulate our guides (Woulter and Kenny) as well as the camp aide (Dineo) for the wonderful job that they did. Woulter and Kenny are highly knowledgeable, very nice persons, always motivated to share their experience. Woulter did also a wonderful job cooking all meals (we were happy to help) and organising the food storage ! Kenny is a truly nice person and knows the savannah “as his pocket”. Dineo was always keen to help setting the tent or anticipating the meals when we were on a game drive. This team made our safari so interesting!

The accommodation were all very nice. Even the tents were quite big and comfortable. As said, all meals were above expectation given the circumstances (wild safari…). The Waterfront hotel in Zambia is outstanding.

All game drive gave us always new surprises. The high experience of Woulter and Kenny allowed us to see many wild animals and also nice spots to enjoy the wonderful landscapes.

During the way to Kasane, there was a problem with the 4×4, but even this was not seen as a failure… Kenny managed to handle the problem and two 4×4 went to pick us up in less than an hour. Woulter always keeps his usual good mood and everything went fine.

As you can see, we are delighted by this safari, as everything went beyond expectation. We will certainly recommend Sunway Safaris to anyone interested in safari and we hope to join such a safari soon!

To note, Safari Specialists recommended us to Sunway and the safari was in line with their description.

Karen & Shannon (Ontario Canada)

Dear Sunway Safaris, I am hoping you can share this email with Shaun, Bryan and Ngande. We met Shaun in Maun at Audi Camp on May 10th as we were packing up to head out to Moremi. I wanted to say thank you for the most amazing and incredible trip to Africa. I didn’t think it was possible to squeeze for much fun and adventure into our 14 day Botswana wildside safari. This was a safari far beyond my expectations and I honestly don’t know how a safari could be better than this.
Myself, my daughter and one other person (a US airforce pilot) were on this tour May 5-18, 2019. Bryan was main guide with help from Cloud, Ngande and our local Okavango Delta crew from Dtepi (not sure of the spelling) (Aleks, Keodirelse, Lottsing, Letty). What a great business model to use local guides, with lots of local expertise and be able to provide some local employment (that matters to me). They were excellent. Our days in the Delta were memorable and the walking safari experience is completely different than a driving safari. I wouldn’t have missed this for anything. We do a fair amount of canoe tripping here in Canada so loading our gear in boats and poling or paddling in somewhere to camp was pretty familiar (and fun) for us.
Our guides showed us so many things that we would never have been able to see without them. The big African mammals were great and we were lucky to see cheetahs and a leopard and honey badgers and all the big five, but I very much loved seeing the incredible diversity of bird species (I recorded over 100 African birds with the help of Bryan, Ngande and others), and plants. I am a biologist by background, so this was like a dream field trip for me. Bryan and Ngande were expert birders and I think had fun finding new or less common birds in addition to the typical African critters. The birds were so beautiful and I think even my travel mates turned into birders on the trip. I also very much appreciated the different landscapes we travelled through on our trip, from wide open desert and savannah to the huge Okavango delta and the Chobe and Zambezi rivers.
Bryan was a great cook; the food was healthy and amazing and Bryan even planned a special treat for us on Mother’s day (basically for me). Bryan was also a great guide and I was very interested to learn about the training, education and qualifications for guides in Africa. Ngande was a great driver and got us out of a number of tight spots in sand or with elephants on the road (or both), where most others would have gotten stuck. Ngande was also clearly very familiar with the areas we visited and was able to find wildlife almost the moment we left camp. Both Ngande and Bryan were expert at identifying a huge range of wildlife and plants. I was clear to me that safety was top priority in every situation and even though we were able to get close to lots of wildlife, I never felt unsafe thanks to Bryan and Ngande; their collective experience in how to best handle the range of situations we encountered was very appreciated and we fully trusted their judgement.
Stories around the campfire at night was a great way to learn about life and cultures between continents and added so much to our experience. By the end of our tour, I felt like family with our guides and I have to admit that we were sad to part ways at the end of the trip. I plan to be in Africa again and would certainly consider another Sunway tour. Thanks so much for making this experience possible.

This may not be the correct venue for providing a review of our trip, but please accept this email as a review. My wife and I just returned from the Botswana Wildside trip that began in Johannesburg on May 19. We wanted to thank you and your staff for providing us with one of the best experiences of our lives! The trip was well organized and led well by all of our guides. Stephen was organized, gave us a solid understanding of what to expect for each day at the evening briefings, and was always gracious in answering any of our questions. Shandle was always joyous, smiling and had an infectious laugh. But he also had a tremendous level of knowledge and understanding of the area, animals and culture that he shared. Kenny was similarly enthusiastic and knowledgeable about being in the bush and did a fantastic job in leading the game drives. And even though he did not do any guiding, we also appreciate the support of our follow-vehicle driver, I.T., who quie tly shared his own knowledge by identifying the different sounds of the animals at night. We both came away from this trip with a deeper understanding and love of the land and people of Southern Africa. We would definitely recommend your company and these guides to anyone who wants to experience the wilds of Botswana.

Hello Sunway Safaris. We have just returned home after our trip “Botswana Wildside”. It was the best trip of my life. Absolutely fantastic. Our guides Stephen, Kenny and the super great Shandle. The organisation was absolutely perfect. Many thanks & greetings from Germany to the Sunway Team 1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? I can’t choose. All was exciting. The scenic view above okavango delta, Moremi reserve game, Savuti, Chobe and Victoria Falls. Game Walk (in the delta) and all the Game Drive… 2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? Binoculars are essantial ! 3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? Yes. 4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? Excellent *****

A well organised tour with good equipment and exceptional local guides. The first 2 days were hard going with long distances to travel but the transport was comfortable with plenty of comfort breaks. The 2 local guides were amazing taking great care of us and full of knowledge. Canoeing into the okavango delta and helicopter ride over the delta were the highlight

Hello dear team of Sunway Safaris, I had with you the 14 day tour Botswana, Zambia and South Africa, Tour Code BT14. I booked my tour through afrika ours individual GmbH in Munich. The tour started on the 14th of October 2018 and ended on the 28th of October 2018. It was one of the best decisions in my life to do this tour. Since I traveled alone, I was a bit worried at first, how would the integration into the group work and because the tour was English speaking and my English is not the best, I was also a little scared. But those fears were already taken to me on the first day, when I met Marc and Sarah from Great Britain, who helped me along the whole journey. Also a family from Munich Alexander, Ingrid and their daughter Sarah spoke mainly English and I translated a lot of what I did not understand. Our guide Mello made us a wonderful meal and was always helpful. Jame, the guide in Botswana, was also always very friendly and attentive. I would like to mention our main responsible person, Guide Victor, who has a tremendous amount of knowledge about Africa, culture, politics and people. Who has informed us extensively about every plant and every animal and who has fulfilled every wish.

Hannah (New Zealand)

I just wanted to email as I have just arrived home after my travels. Two friends and I did the Botswana Wildside safari and absolutely loved it! The tour guides were lovely, always helpful and worked so hard. They knew the environment very well and introduced us to this wonderful place with expertise. Our eyes were opened to parts of the African wildlife we never knew before. The guides kept us safe and happy. What a fun group we had! The safari was a great balance of animal life but also the fauna and flora. I definitely experienced more than I thought I would! We loved being able to camp out in these countries to feel 100% immersed in the wilderness. The gear we used was of good quality and had no problems. Every part of the safari was well organised from the gear we used, to our food and our travel plans. I especially wanted to say a huge thank you to the Johannesburg office lady (sorry I can’t remember her name). We had some problems with our flights and sadly missed out of the first day and a half of our safari. This lady was so helpful when it came to working out how to meet up with our safari group. It was a stressful situation that she made easier because of her calm manor and friendliness. So overall thank you so much for enabling us to have this amazing experience! It will remain special in our minds and hearts. I will never forget these memories. I definitely recommend Sunway Safaris!

Best of Botswana, camping Safari.. Beautiful scenery, good weather, plenty of wildlife & good food. What a fantastic 15 day holiday/adventure. Our guides were fantastic, their knowledge & passion was second to none. The camping was enjoyable, even though you spent 7 nights wild camping with no proper toilets or showers we were well looked after with the portable versions. We saw so much wildlife including Rhino, Elephant, lion, Zebra, Giraffe and plenty bird life. While doing the camping through the parks make sure you take enough bottled water with you as there are no shops to stock up.Entering Botswana there is a $30 tourism levy, but for now it has been postponed until further notice. Entry in to Zambia is $50, but for the same price you can get a double entry to include Zimbabwe which is highly recommended so that you can see the falls from both sides. While in Zambia we went to the Victoria Falls which was a true highlight for all. The water levels are high at the moment so the spray from the falls gets you very wet!! The next day we went to the Zimbabwe side of the falls to view the other half which I would highly recommend. We went to the Victoria Falls hotel and enjoyed a cocktail with a wonderful view of the falls in the back ground. I would highly recommend this holiday as the campsites for the wild camping are right in where the animals roam with no fences. Will definitely go again. Thank you Sunway Safaris and guide Brian for an amazing holiday.

We have just returned home to Australia after our Botswana Wildside tour which started on 25/12/16. We would like to pass on our praises for all our guides and helpers throughout the tour. William and Alios made such a wonderful pair of lead guides and complemented one another so well. Kenny was an excellent tracker during our game drives and was very passionate about the animals. Everyone on our tour were amazed at Mellow’s campfire cooking skills. The most amazing meals we had during our whole African trip were Mellow’s cooking. We were very impressed with their knowledge of Africa’s history, geography and wildlife. Not only were they well-informed, your staff also made sure that we were well-looked after throughout the whole tour. It is thanks to passionate staff like these which made our trip so memorable and we hope that they equally well-valued by your company.

Dear Bruce and Team

This is my Africa I love so much.

I’m back again but not feeling at home yet for it always takes quite a while until Heart and Soul have arrived too.

It was a truly awesome adventure especially the close and unforgettable encounter with this Lioness in our camp. We where very well looked after by our guides and spoilt with delicious meals.

I needed the two additional days in Livingstone to say good by to Africa and the unique magic of Sambesi.

I sincerely hope to be back again next year for I would very much like to visit the great Simbabwe Ruins once more.

Best regards, Claire

Giulia

Amazing trip in a well conserved environment, that has met completely our expectations. It’s necessary to have the ability to adapt and cooperate this kind of tour in wild camping. The whole crew, guides, assistant and tour leader were well prepared and professional, and furthermore they provide good food and safe drives along the sandy road of Botswana’s National Parks and a good camping equipment was provided. Maybe if we join again the same tour we will fly directly to Maun spending more days in the delta…

Everything was perfect.  The guides worked together very well and liked each other, completed each other!

Good Service, value for money. Both guides were amazing.

Hello Sunway Safari team,Back home to Germany for two weeks now and Africa is still on my mind. I did the two camping Safaris Botswana Wildside and Namibia which were truly amazing. Thank you for the well organized trips and four breathtaking weeks! All the guides (in order of appearance ;o) : William, Abel, Maxwell, Jamie and James) did a great job and I would like to thank them all for their passion and kindness. It was fantastic to have them on board. Special thanks to Maxwell. He is really dedicated to his job. His knowledge about the African life (fauna, flora, people, medicine, history, politics,…and also the European (Willhelm Tell, Otto von Bismarck,… ;o) ) was really impressing. Explaining us the wildlife, you could feel his passion for the nature and its beauty. Even the cooking was excellent – I didn’t expect that, specially not in the middle of the African bush! Thank you for answering our million questions, for the encouragement to ask even silly ones, for the uncountable stops (backward- forward) to take pictures, for feeling safe in the wild, for bringing us closer to this beautiful continent. It was a lifetime experience, that I will never forget.
Susanne
I enjoyed the tour very much because of the variety of activities and the good organisational skills of the guides. I felt very comfortable.
Youenn & Elissa
Overall we really enjoyed the tour, services and guides (Shadreck & Gift) were exceptional and we were very happy and impressed with our trip. Also a special mention for our Botswana guide Kenny, he was amazing!

My partner Mrs. Melanie and myself just returned from our safari. We would like to let you know that our expectations have been surpassed by far. Everything was organized in the best way, the tents and mattresses were very good, the food full or variety and also very good. Our best compliments to our guides Dee, Greg and Stan who gave us a fantastic holiday. Thank you very much! We will certainly recommend you.

Kurt

Monica

Great guides, great places, I really enjoyed the camping vibe.

Joke & Nico

We want to thank you, specially Chris, for the great tour BT14 we made in july. We had a great time with him and his humor, food and his knowledge of leading a group. Also the support off Kenny (guide and driver); James (we nearly see him, but he was always there) was great! They deserve a big compliment! Thanks, we hope to see each other again in the future!

Kristen

recently returned from Africa after taking the Botswana Wildside Tour with a departure date of 9/1/13. My friend and I went on the trip and we loved every minute of the adventure (and didn’t mind all the 5:30am wake up calls).

We had Jeff as our guide and Kenny and Joe joined us once we got back from the Delta. I was initially a little nervous about sleeping in a tent for 2 weeks but the time went by so quickly and the tents and sleeping pads were comfortable and well kept. All the guides were knowledgeable and were very helpful with camp and making delicious meals for the group.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions, but I just wanted to share my experience on the tour as well as let you know how great Jeff, Kenny and Joe were for the 2 weeks.

Merijn

We would thank you guys for an amazing 14 day Botswana Wildside camping safari which we just finished. The trip was surpassing our best dreams. We would like to thank our guides Claudia and Wayne for all the effort they made to make this trip a memorable one. Nothing was too much and everything was done with a smile. Wayne is a very knowledgeable guide about local culture, nature, wildlife and the people. We enjoyed his humor a lot and he is doing his job very professional and enthusiast. I was astonished by the beauty of the Delta and loved to propose to my girlfriend at this special place. When I asked Wayne for this favor he was very enthusiast and helped me to find a special place and a local guide to bring us to a beautiful pool with many birds. A perfect place for this special moment. The cooking of Claudia was amazing, healthy and every day a surprise. Her love for Africa was inspiring and her interest for birds and her knowledge about them was very interesting. Thank you guys and good luck with all your future travels! And Wayne, we hope Zambia will make it to the World Cup! Best regards, Merijn and Charlene

Julie

Dear Bruce

My son Josh and I have just returned to London from the Botswana Wildside Tour. I wanted to complement you on the arrangements which were seamless, the choice of destinations which were fantastic, and most of all on the guides. As a former tour guide myself I am pretty picky about guides and Wayne was without doubt one of the most professional, gracious, organised and intelligent guides I have ever had the pleasure of travelling with.

Claudia and Rob were also terrific and Brian and James were great in Botswana. All guides displayed a strong environmental ethic too which was gratifying .

I can’t speak highly enough about this trip – not my first to Africa. I assure you it won’t be my last with Sunway! I may even have persuaded my husband to join us on a ‘group’ trip next time – such was the level of my praise.

Yours sincerely Julie Taylor Mills (United Kingdom)

Gilbert Family

Hello, We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Botswana and I feel the support and efficiency that you provided contributed towards the whole package. The organisation of the whole thing was very smooth. The way Sunway works was excellent and the guides they provided were second to none. We cannot fault anything and would like to thank you for helping organize a fantastic holiday.

We run a business ourselves and know how clients are always quick to let you know when things are not up to standard but less keen to commend you when things go well. Thank you again. Hilary Gilbert and family

Jenny

Peter and I had a fantastic safari with Sunways. Everything was so organized and ran very smoothly. Our guide, Wayne, and the other helpers were all wonderful, helpful and friendly. The other clients on safari with us were a good mix of ages and nationality. We all grew quite close during our time together and I hope we stay in touch.

Thank you again for organizing our trip.

Miriam (Switzerland)

Very enjoyable tour with excellent guides and amazing stops along the way – it was a memorable trip – fantastic!

Joris (Belgium)

Just got back from my 2nd wildside camping experience and once again, it was a blast!!! A 3rd time will come for sure!! I have the feeling my mind stayed there as now it’s so hard to come back to reality. So many experiences, so many thrills, too many memories to process… We went there as total individuals and came back as one family. Absolutely sure you can call this value for money. Thanks!!

Also a very warm thanks to our guides Lazarus and Bryan. They kept us safe and relaxed by doing what they do best: let us experience the wildside part of Botswana. We never felt stressed, ate the best food ever and were taken care off in the best possible way. Thumbs up for them and many many thanks for this experience!!

Hayley Gray

Hi Richard, Can I just say thank you again for all of your help. The trip was even more amazing than I could ever have anticipated.

The Sunway guys were fantastic and all 12 travellers on this trip were amazed with how much knowledge, preparation and care goes into every detail of the trip.

I feel very lucky that with your help I was still able to experience this. Hayley

Margrit & Urs Sturzenegger

Our travel at home was without problems, but full of thinking at the wonderful walks on the wildside. For us, in our age it was a real “adventure” and we are happy that we had the possibility for this experience. With your being helpful, and always to be in good spirit it was a unforgettable experience. A very special thank for your help the last night, during the storm.

Now we are ordering the photos and tell everybody about this wonderful safari and the adorable people we got to meet. You were loking very good for us, and we felt us very safed, even at the crocodil-camp. Thank you for all!!!

Christiane Bohr

Hi Richard,

Now returned from the Botswana Wildside Trip I would like to say thank you, that you made it possible for me to travel with Chris for the second time.

It was such a great experience for me again and I felt like being in paradise for two more weeks.

The decision to travel alone this time was not quite easy, because parts of my family and friends wouldn’t let me go to Africa as a woman alone. But the impressions of the trip before were always in my heart and Chris has since this last trip, which we had together with my daughter, all my confidence. I didn’t have any doubt at all.

He really did everything to make it comfortable for me and he was always on my side, when I needed any help, and always friendly and smiling. I felt safely at every time during the whole tour.

Chris did everything to keep the camp spirit high and with his knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to lead the group and to integrate everybody he made my holiday to a brilliant and special experience, always relaxed and enjoying. Our group was travelling together like a big family and we had a lot of fun and good conversation all the time.

Coming home my face was shining and everybody who looked at me saw that I had such a great time and I could convince everybody, who doubted, that it is possible to travel to Africa as a single person.

Thank you again, especially to Chris, and I am looking forward to my next trip because Africa is in my heart and I am sure I will come back soon.

Thank you as well to the other guides, Chris v.B. and Fred and to Inspector Macumbi, who made the time in the real bush to a special experience.

Constanze Laging

The trip was great and we really enjoyed it. Especially for my niece it was an experience she will never forget.

My special thanks go to our guides during the safari, Peter and Inspector. Inspector is really a river bushman with lots of experience who managed to bring us safely to all the great animals. I do not know how he found them since we had so much vegetation, but somehow he managed to our great pleasure.

Peter is just great, with huge knowledge, open minded and always thinking three steps ahead to make the trip truly unforgettable and as enjoyable as possible.

You have great guys there.

Dörte Rüdiger Birr (Germany)

we want to thank you for the beautiful journey from 12/26/2010 to 01/07/2011, it has all worked but great.

The tour was very nice and our guide Andrew was very very good, he really took care of everything, explained everything to us (especially the animal world) and was just a good friend on this tour.

Thank you so much If someone from our group of friends are planning a similar tour, I can recommend Sunway very good conscience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have any questions regarding your planned African Safari? The list below provides answers to many common questions we get asked with almost every tour.

Sunway Safaris does not supply bottled drinking water. There is however clean drinkable water throughout Southern Africa. Tap water in most places is good to drink, and you can always ask your guide for advice if unsure. Each safari truck has a 150ltr water tank, which can be used for drinking. For those who are concerned about the water it is possible to purchase bottled water at own expense.

From an environmental point of view, we ask each client to consider how many plastic bottles they throw away. We suggest you either bring a water bottle from home, or buy a 1.5 ltr bottle of water at the start of the tour. You can then refill that water bottle from the truck or from tap. (if every Sunway client bought a 1 plastic bottle every day, we would use over 40,000 plastic bottles a year! So please help us by re-using your water bottle).

Sunway will provide three scrumptious meals per day, unless specified in the itinerary [B=breakfast, L=lunch, D=dinner], from lunch on the day of departure until breakfast on the last day of your tour. Good healthy meals make happy travelers. The tour leaders do all the shopping and meal planning for each group. They will always try to obtain fresh produce wherever possible. Each tour has 1 cool box / freezer for the meats and fresh produce only, and 1 cool box for drinks. Please be aware that, due to the diverse tastes of our clients, we are unable to accommodate individual food preferences on our group tours. The group shared meals we provide are subject to available produce, and in our sometimes remote destinations, the variety of ingredients is sometimes limited. However, we do take allergies, vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements into consideration to ensure everyone has suitable meal options. Please bring this to our attention at time of booking.

A rough idea of what meals can be expected:

Breakfast – Cereals and milk or bread/toast, jam and fruit with coffee and tea or the occasional cooked breakfast.

Lunch – Cheese, cold meats, fish, fruit, pasta salads and bread or rolls.

Dinner – Potjies (stews), braais (barbecue), stir fries, curries etc prepared on a wood fire or gas stove.

On several nights we visit local restaurants, which because of individual tastes will be an own expense meal.

Yes, Malaria prophylaxes are required on all of the safaris that we offer. Some trips, like the South Africa Scenic or Rainbow Route, are only in a Malaria area for 5 days, while others, such as the Zambia, Malawi & Mozambique Trade Route, travel through malaria areas for all 21 days. Your tour leader will advise you when you enter a malaria area, and when you exit a malaria area.

Do not be put off visiting Southern Africa because of malaria. Realistically most of Southern Africa is low risk area and if you use prophylaxis, use insect repellent and cover up at dusk with long shirt or trousers, the chances are very low that you would contract malaria. Of the thousands of clients that Sunway has carried since 1994 we know of only 1 case of a client contracting malaria, and only a handful of guides (and remember that the guides do not even use the tablets). Clients visiting Malawi and Mozambique should pay most attention to precautions as those two countries are warm and wetter, and therefore have higher incidence of malaria.

Please contact your local physician for latest information on malaria prophylaxis and what type of prophylaxis will be best suited for the area that you are visiting.

If you feel when you get home that you have flu like symptoms, headache, stiffness, nausea, fever, then it’s best to consult your doctor immediately. Remember that prophylaxis do mask the symptoms, so get checked out – and remember to tell your doctor that you’ve been to a malaria area. Malaria is easily treatable if detected early.

If you are joining a camping trip, the Sunway tents have mosquito netting on the windows and door. Mosquitoes spend the heat of the day in shaded areas, so please remember to keep the mosquito net on the door closed during the day too, so that mosquitoes do not enter your tent. At night, you can sleep with the tent window flaps open, and the door rolled up, but remember to keep the mosquito net zipped closed. This will keep out the little biting things (like mosquitos) and the big biting things (like lion and hyena Smile).

On the accommodated safaris, if we visit a malaria area, or a place with mosquitoes, then the accommodation will have nets provided. In areas where there are low numbers of mosquitoes and/or no malaria, mosquito nets will not be provided. These include places such as Knysna, Hermanus, Cape Town, Swakopmund, Windhoek etc.

Memory cards and other photographic accessories will be available several times on tour. A camera with a zoom lens from wide angle to telephoto, 35-200mm, is advisable to capture both scenic and wildlife shots. Each vehicle is fitted with a 12/24V cigarette lighter – this should not be relied on for charging camera batteries and we recommend you bring a 2nd battery. Remember you can also charge your camera on those nights we use accommodation (SA 220V)

If you are joining a camping trip, you will need to bring your own sleeping bag (and small camp pillow) and a towel. Should you not have, or do not want to buy a sleeping bag, you can rent a sleeping bag and camp pillow from the Sunway office for Euro 1 per sleeping bag per day on tour. Please book this at the time of booking.

On the Accommodated Adventures & Classic Journeys, all bedding is provided, and you will not be required to bring a sleeping bag or pillow. At most accommodation establishments, towels will be provided, but it is always a good idea to bring a small travel towel for the beach or swimming pool. If you are traveling on a tour that visits the Okavango Delta please make sure to bring a small towel with you as there are no towels supplied.

Due to space and weight limitations within each safari vehicle, luggage should be kept to a maximum of 12kgs per person (excluding camera equipment / day bag). The bag should be of a soft sided duffel bag / back pack design – no hard cases or hard sided bags will be accepted. While many people feel that they will need their full quota of 20kgs, people quickly realise that they have packed far too much.

Yes, Mastercard and Visa credit cards and debit cards are widely accepted throughout Southern Africa. American Express is not widely used in Southern Africa.

You’ll be able to use credit card to pay for most restaurant meals, and at most formal shops.  Optional activities in Cape Town, Swakopmund, Maun, Livingstone and Victoria Falls can also be paid by credit card. More specific details available in the downloadable Sunway general information dossier.

Sunway includes all activities in the safari, as detailed in the itinerary. You will therefore not be spending lots of money on additional excursions like game drives, national park fees, bush walks etc – those are included as per your itinerary. There are on some routes, opportunities to do additional own expense activities, such as helicopter flights, white water rafting or canoeing etc – please refer to the optional activities page for wages (right hand menu).

You will need some cash to purchase snacks, drinks, perhaps local curios, and some restaurant meals. For meal expenses you should count the number of lunches and dinners not included in the specific itinerary and then work on about US$15 to US$25 for a sit down restaurant dinner (including a glass of wine or a beer), about US$6 to US$12 for a light lunch or take away. (local currency will be required, but as an indication we’ve shown US$). In most restaurants you will be able to pay buy credit card – Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted, but Diners Club is not.

Bottled water is approximately US$1.50 per liter and a can of beer or coke is roughly US$2.00.

If you budget on +/-US$ 25 per day, you will have ample cash available for out of pocket expenses. Please bear in mind that this daily budget, does not include the expenses of optional activities such as white water rafting, shark cage diving or helicopter flights etc. The prices for these optional extras can be found on our downloadable detailed tour dossier.

Tipping is often a major issue for clients, especially when it comes to tipping the guides that we sometimes use for various activities (e.g. game walks, polers in the Okavango Delta etc). Clients sometimes find it difficult to get a realistic value of the local currency and what it is worth in the local economy. We suggest that a tip of 1-3€ per client per ½ day activity, or the local currency equivalent, is acceptable.

Your two Sunway tour leaders also work extremely hard to ensure that your safari runs smoothly and that all the clients on tour are happy. They are more often than not in bed last and up first, do most of the cooking and also give as much information to the clients about the areas that are visited and of course flora and fauna. We suggest that a tip of 2–5€ per client per day per tour leader is reasonable. A general procedure for tipping the guides, is for the group to collect the guides tips, and place in 2 separate envelopes for each of the tour leaders.

As in all cases with tipping, the final decision of the amount tipped is up to the individual. It is up to you to decide if you thought the service was poor, or exceptional, and the amount tipped should reflect that. The amounts quoted above are guidelines for you to get an idea of what to tip.

Southern Africa, like all 3rd world regions, has its problems, but your tour leader knows all of the areas intimately and will endeavour to show you all of the highlights while always taking your safety into account. Sunway plans the itineraries to visit interesting places, while not placing clients in harms way.

Like all practical advice about safety, be aware of your surroundings but not paranoid. As you would anywhere in the world, don’t leave valuables such as wallet and cameras unattended or in plain view. IE: don’t leave your camera on a restaurant table while you dash to the loo, or leave your wallet on the bed in your room while you’re not there. The temptation for cleaning staff may be too much.

Please also bear in mind that the people in many of the places you will visit are living in difficult and sometimes poor conditions. To them the possessions you have are signs of your relative wealth, and therefore please be sensitive to their position. Don’t create that temptation in their mind by “flaunting” your valuables.

When entering a wilderness area your tour leader will give you a full safely briefing. If you follow the simple rules while in wilderness areas you will have nothing to worry about  when in close proximity to wild animals. On game drives keep quiet and don’t make any sudden movements. On game walks walk in a single file, keep quiet and listen to your guide’s instructions and you will enjoy and amazing wildlife experience. When staying in un-fenced campsites do not wander off alone, always make sure that you are aware of your surroundings.

Follow your guide’s instructions and you’ll have a great time.

Yes, all clients travelling on a Sunway safari are required to have their own comprehensive travel insurance. The travel insurances needs to cover lost luggage, missed flights and most importantly comprehensive medical cover in the un-likely event of you being injured while on safari.

Please note that while most credit card companies offer travel insurance if you have bought your airline ticket on your credit card, we have found that cover is not sufficient for adventure travel in Africa. We strongly recommend you buy additional specific travel insurance. You need to buy this insurance in your home country, before you travel and your local Sunway travel agent can assist you with this.

The minimum age for our guests is 12 years old, although we do occasionally make exceptions depending on the specific itinerary, the group make-up and sometimes during our low season. Please note that a child of 12-17 years will only be accepted for travel with an accompanying adult.

On some of our safaris we camp wild in remote areas and these campsites are not fenced, so it is possible for wild animals do enter the campsite. It is important that parents make sure that the children listen and follow the guide’s safety instructions. Parents are also required to supervise their children at all times so as not to affect the enjoyment of the tour for any other clients.

We, as Sunway, do not believe that age should be a determining factor on the enjoyment of life! Therefore we do not have an upper age limit.

But clients who are older than 65yrs are required to submit a medical self declarations letter or doctor’s report stating that they are fit and healthy and that they will be able to undertake a safari that includes a moderate level of physical activity, some long driving days and some moderate full day walks. This is not an onerus document, but rather an indication that the client is aware of the style of tour that they will be joining, and capable of participating in all activities on tour. We’ve found that we have many fit and healthy clients who are over 65 years of age, join Sunway trips, and put the younger clients to shame on the mountain walks!
